Oakpark Co-operative Children's Centre
How does a co-op work?

What is a Co-operative?

For parents, Oak Park Co-operative Children's Centre provides support and learning. It is a place where parents feel they belong, where they can observe their child, and where they can be both learners and teachers. Here parents are genuinely involved with their child(ren)’s education and indeed their own education.

Every family that has a child at Oak Park becomes a member of Oak Park’s Co-operative. Oak Park has a Board of Directors that is made up of parents from the school, and this ensures that children always come first as parents want what is best for their children.

The only obligation that parents have as members of the Co-operative is to attend two General Meetings a year that are held in the evening and last about 30 minutes. The meetings are held in September and June. Elections for the Board of Directors are held at the June General Meeting.
